LED capsule bulbs are ideal for the smallest of light fittings
There are two types of capsule bulbs available which are G9 bulbs and G4 bulbs. The main difference between the two capsules bulbs are their voltages. G9 light bulbs operate off the mains voltage (220-240V), while G4 capsule bulbs are a low voltage light bulb (usually between 12V and 24V) and need to be installed with a compatible transformer to power them.
G9 light bulbs have became exceptionally popular due to the small size available in comparison to other LED light bulbs, making them perfect for smaller lights with more discreet shades, but also for appliances such as cooker hoods.
High quality LED bulbs for improved performance and reduced energy.
Please note our bulbs can not be exchanged or refunded once purchased.
LED Dimming can be a little confusing, and because there are no standards in place for LED dimming, there is no actual guarantee that a certain bulb will work with a certain dimmer. Incompatibilities between bulbs and dimmers can cause flickering, reduced dimming ranges, and can even cause damage and reduce the life span of the lamp. We recommend that you show your electrician your bulbs before purchasing an LED dimmer to ensure they are compatible.
LED bulbs don't generally dim as smoothly as "old fashioned" bulbs so your flight could be at 100% and then drop to say 70% then 50% light levels. However the benefits of LED light bulbs outweigh the negatives.
Dimming an LED G9 is not as smooth as any other type of dimming, This is mainly due to the size of the bulb and the technology that can fit in such a small discreet LED bulb.
They are also long life and very cost effective to run which is excellent for both energy saving and carbon footprint!
LED light bulbs are the most environmentally friendly and cost effective way of lighting your home, They have replaced their predecessor which was the low energy bulb, This bulb was a low slower to warm up and used more energy than an LED light bulb which also illuminates instantly.
LED light bulbs are the most energy efficient bulb on the market, they are fantastic at reducing energy costs and can last up to 10 x longer than a standard incandescent (traditional) light bulb and are much more sustainable too. Due to the life expectancy of an LED bulb being so much longer than an energy saving bulb or incandescent bulb you also save money in the cost of replacing the bulb too.
Some lights are also available as LED integrated meaning the light source is physically built into the light, so no need to add a bulb! which is even better for maintenance, often they come with an extended guarantee too.
Most lights are compatible with LED energy saving light bulbs, They are available as "Screw In" which are known as Edison Screw Cap (ES for short) or E27. Other common types are Small Edison Screw (SES for short) or E14. and also as "Twist In" which are known as Bayonet Cap (BC for short) or B22.
Other types of LED bulb include LED GU10 bulbs for spot light and recessed downlights and LED G9 bulbs which are really popular for modern lighting as the bulb is a lot smaller and more discreet.
Below is a table to give an idea of how much energy can be saved by switching to an LED energy saving light bulb.
